Meet Dr. Read
Dr. Lance Read is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He was born in San Angelo, Texas, and completed his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. After college, he attended Baylor College of Dentistry and received his DDS degree. Following graduation, he was accepted to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program at Baylor College of Dentistry and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. While at Baylor, he first completed a one-year internship and then a four-year hospital-based residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Following his residency, Dr. Read served in the United States Navy, providing specialty-level care to U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps personnel at the dental surgical clinic and hospital of Naval Air Station Pensacola.
After completing his service as a United States Naval Officer in 1995, Dr. Read joined Baylor Scott and White Healthcare in Temple, Texas. For 28 years he provided hospital-based surgical care for the residents of central Texas. For 20 of those years, Dr. Read served as the Baylor Scott and White Division Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, training multiple hospital interns and resident dentists, physicians, and hospital staff in procedural oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Read’s professional interests include the removal of wisdom teeth, dental extractions, bone regeneration, and grafting in patients requiring complex prosthetic replacement of teeth supported by dental implants, soft tissue, bone pathology, and the provision of safe and effective relief from pain and surgical anxiety with intravenous sedation.
In his free time, Dr. Read enjoys working with his wife and boys on their farm, following college football, exercising, reading, and studying the Bible.
